November is the month of Remembrance, starting with the 5th November (‘remember remember’) when we remember Guy Fawkes’ attempts to blow up parliament (sometimes it’s easy to feel some sympathy to that idea) and moving on to Remembrance Sunday when we remember ‘all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life…as a result of conflict or terrorism’ (British Legion).

November is also the build-up to Christmas in The Bookshop and there are no apologies for this being full of useful Christmas information for you, even if it feels a little early. We have already had our first customer walk out with a huge boxful of books announcing that his Christmas shopping is now complete. (Clive, you are our very favourite sort of customer!)
