On 7th February, 2026, the Engine Room Bar, The Old Mill, 45 London Road, East Grinstead, RH19 1AW has two celebrations. First, we are hosting the launch of CAMRA North Sussex Ale & Cider Trail. Second, we are opening our custom made cold room. And ‘cutting the ribbon’ at 2pm will be our local MP, Mims Davis.

Nigel Roissetter, one of the Engine Room directors, said ‘The Engine Room is delighted, as CAMRA branch pub of the year, to be hosting the launch of the 2026 Ale and Cider Trail. Please come along from 1pm to join the fun.’ The Engine Room Bar won Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) North Sussex Pub of the year in 2024 and 2025 and we are proud to say that we are on the shortlist for 2026. We are owned by ten of our customers.

Our climate controlled cold room has been updated to cater for more cask conditioned ales, keg beer, cider and lager. We can rack up to ten barrels ensuring that we can serve up to six beers direct from the cask at any one time. More so during our popular music and beer festivals; our next one is our Strong and Dark Beer Fest on 27th- 29th March. We are looking forward to Mims ‘racking’ her first barrel and pulling a pint.

As 2025 winner of CAMRA North Sussex pub of the year it falls on us to host the launch of the region’s Ale and Cider Trail. This is a celebration of ale and cider with 35 pubs and breweries from Balcombe to Warninglid, via Horsham, Danehill and Crawley, and points in between. This year it includes Flying Trunk brewery from Forest Row who we have worked with on our ‘in Cahoots’ series of ales where our regulars have worked with the Flying Trunk team to choose the hops. What other pubs and breweries can say that.
