Band were excellent. Beverages good value. Timings excellent. Problem was the acoustics which were good for the band but all but useless for spoken word. Sitting two thirds of the way back none of the four of us could make out a word. Chequer Mead would be a better location for a gig that attracts over 200 people.
Also you have to sell these events. I came across it by accident. There needs to be aboard in town that actually promotes event and supplies details of how to attend. With all the empty shops surely we can put an events board in one of them.
Finally a two hour show needs comfortable seats and St. Swithuns does not have them. I am going to two further events this weekend and hope things get better. It deserves to succeed.
