Event Details

The East Grinstead Bus Running Day is now firmly embedded as an annual event in the town.

It attracts local residents & visitors alike and makes a great family day out, particularly for those with smaller children who are looking for something different to do.

A wide range of routes will be running from the High Street from 10am to 4.30pm. All services are detailed in a souvenir timetable booklet available on the day, or by sending an A5 SAE and cheque  (made payable to ‘Country Bus Rallies’) to 21 Delves Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 5DP (programmes will be posted out 1 week prior to the event). The timetable details all the routes and times of buses running on those routes. Rides on the buses are FREE but the timetable sales help offset the considerable running costs. The event is centred on the High Street which is closed to normal road traffic for the day; this is where people can meet, board one of the vintage buses, have a drink or snack in the local cafes or peruse the local shops.

You can now order your advance copy for EG 2025 by either :-
1) Email & PayPal – please e-mail your address details to jonathan.ryder999@outlook.com – a PayPal payment request will be sent to you upon receipt
2) Sending a cheque to 21 Delves Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, KENT TN2 5DP.
Advance copy timetables this year will cost £10.50 (£9.50 for the timetable – 5% discount – £0.85 for Royal Mail 2nd class postage, £0.15 for the envelope). All orders must be received by Wednesday 9th April, timetables will be posted by Friday 11th April.

The event will bring together over 25 classic buses representing types that used to operate in and around East Grinstead. During the day the buses will operate to regular timetables over many of the old routes that used to pass through East Grinstead. Destinations reached include Turners Hill, Crawley Down, Lingfield, Godstone, Oxted and Edenbridge. There are also tours up to the Ashdown Forest and of the town. The shorter journeys are well suited for smaller children whilst the longer ones are an opportunity to meander through the lanes and relive days gone by. Many of the routes happily terminate at country pubs for those who fancy a pie and a pint.

We are local street food traders, we would like to know if we can sell our churros on Sunday 27th on vintage bus running day.

    Best regards

Good morning. This is not a town council event. We will pass your request on to the organiser for consideration.

My husband cannot walk very far and I drop him off usually outside the entrance of either The Dorset or The Crown. He does not have a blue badge. I know parts of the High Street is closed. So I need to know how near I can get him today Sunday 27th April.
