Event Details

Should Wild Boar be returned to the British Countryside? Join us for an evening with Chantal Lyons who has got ‘up close and personal’ with the Wild Boar in the Forest of Dean. Chantal will examine the resistance to Wild Boar and argue the case for their reintroduction.

This is a beautiful piece of nature writing and a fascinating argument for the reintroduction of Wild Boar. This argument is deeply steeped in Sussex, where WIld Boar have historically been found in our native woodlands, and more recently experiments in re-wilding at Knepp have brought the issues back into general discussion.

Chantal Lyons is a naturalist, writer and science communicator. Having grown up in the tidy countryside of Kent, her encounters with the growing rewilding movement opened her eyes to the potential for restoring nature in Britain, and inspired her to study the relations between people and wild boar in the Forest of Dean.
