The Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code
Launched in 2014, this on-line accreditation campaign is designed for all those who work outdoors with primary aged children. Supported by over 120 national governing bodies of sport and overarching outdoor organisations, we are able to reach thousands of sports and outdoor clubs and groups, aiming to improve the provision of sun protection to all children, via their coaches and outdoor activity leaders. Our strapline is ‘blow the whistle on sunburn!’ For further details visit: www.oksunsafetycode.com
Watch Your Back!
With a ‘garden sunburn’ still as popular as ever, we launched this sun protection campaign in 2016 to target those who like to get lost, working in their gardens. Supported by 9 leading celebrity gardeners, the Garden Centre Association, the Professional Gardeners Guild and the National Allotment Society, we get our messages out in over 360 major UK garden centres. We support our work with competitions and skin checks to ensure we give back to our supporters. Our message is ‘Don’t be REDiculous, avoid a garden sunburn!” For further details visit: www.watchyourback.co.uk
Slip! Slap! Swing!
Golfers are at the highest risk of skin cancer, a fact that is constantly being discussed on social media and reiterated in sporting circles. We decided to do something positive about this targeting all those who play and work in the sport. This year launched a campaign urging golfers to think more carefully about sun protection, offering tips and advice.
We generated support from 9 leading national golf organisations and had educational posters distributed to over 2,000 leading UK golf clubs. We created a short video featuring our PGA Professional ambassadors and organised local skin checks in golf clubs and ensured our message ‘when your focused on your swing, don’t forget your skin’ was loud and clear.
